What about Cargo/Private Aircraft?

Our FBO/General Aviation parking and hangars and cargo center are located on the east side of the field. You must pass through a TSA secure vehicle checkpoint to reach these facilities.

 

 

How do I reach my airplane?

We have 15 stands spread out around the airfield. Free airport buses will be provided to take you from the departure lounge to your respective aircraft during boarding. 

 

 

How many runways are at San Nicolas Airport?

We currently have one 7,000 ft. long runway. We are in the middle of an environmental study to extend the runway to 10,000 feet allowing international arrivals/departures.

 

 

How can I get airport information or receive help, such as paging someone or finding a hotel, rental car, or taxicab?

The San Nicolas Airport Customer Service staff and are here to help you navigate the airport smoothly.  They can direct you to shops, restaurants, ground transportation, and other services. There are several ways to get information and help.

  • Use one of our white courtesy telephones, which are located throughout the airport.

  • Go to an information booth. You can find booths in both the departures and arrivals lounge.

What can I carry with me on my flight?

What kind of identification do I need to get on my flight?

Adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight. This is most typically a state driver’s license, or a passport. All airlines have established policies regarding acceptable identification documentation. When should I plan on arriving at the airport before my flight?

Every travel experience is different and it is important for travelers to understand the time requirements involved in a trip. Travelers should contact their airline to ask about cut-off times for checking bags, and to find out how many minutes the airline expects travelers to be at the gate prior to departure. How can I escort someone to or from their aircraft?

In certain circumstances, the TSA makes an exception to the "ticketed-passengers-only" rule for gate access. The exception applies to people who need to escort an unaccompanied minor passenger, an elderly passenger, or a traveler who is physically challenged. Contact your passenger’s airline to find out its policy. Usually, an airline reservations agent can help you make the arrangements, which will involve getting a "demonstrated need" pass from the airline.

Can I get a wheelchair to help me to or from my flight?

Airlines at San Nicolas are responsible for providing wheelchairs and electric cart service for their customers. You can request this service from an airline in advance or at the ticket counter when you check in.

 

 

Where can I meet my arriving party at Gemstone?

Because only ticketed passengers may go to hardstands – except for people escorting a passenger who is elderly, a minor, or an individual with disabilities – you must meet arriving passengers in the baggage claim area of the terminal. Please ensure you go to the correct terminal to meet your arriving party.

 

 

Does San Nicolas Airport have baggage storage?

No, the airport does not have a baggage storage service.

 

 

What forms of public transportation serve the airport?

The Wave bus serve the airport connecting San Nicolas Airport to Downtown and the attractions. There are connections at the Downtown Transit hub to other areas around the island.

Taxis, limousines, shuttles, and car rental companies provide alternative transportation.

Are there ATMs or a bank at the airport?

You will find ATMs located throughout the departure and arrival lounge. We currently do not have a full service bank.

 

 

Where is the Lost and Found?

San Nicolas's Lost and Found office is located in the Port Authority offices in downtown San Nicolas. The Lost and Found office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To inquire about an item lost at an airport location (restaurant, bathroom, security screening, etc.) email us.

NOTE: Personal items lost while in flight or at an airline gate are collected and held for claim by the operating airline. Lost luggage is also held for claim by airline companies.

 

 

Does San Nicolas Airport have free Wi-Fi service?

San Nicolas Island Airport has free Wi-Fi in all terminal areas.

PARKING

What if I have an electric car?

San NicolasAirport offers a total of 16 electric charging ports in the Valet/Accessible lot. Your contribution to the environment gives you free parking in the facility. Just drop off the car with the Valet and show your CA emissions except card with your car. These spots are available 1st come, 1st serve.

 

 

What if my trip is longer than 30 days?

Special arrangements must be made in advance if parking in excess of 30 days. If arrangements are not made, vehicles parked over 30 days will be considered abandoned and will be towed at the owner’s expense. Email us to make arrangements.

 

Where is accessible parking?

Accessible parking is located in the valet lot. These spots are located closest to the terminal. Follow the handicap signs into the small close in lot. If you need assistance ask someone at the valet desk.

 

How can I check if parking facilities are full?

On this website's homepage, we put all parking information including closures and full percentage under the quick information tab. More info is available on this parking page if closures are in effect. Once at the airport, signs on Airport Boulevard will provide the most up to date information regarding parking facilities.

 

Where do remote shuttles stop?

Remote parking shuttles stop at marked stops only. Follow signs for remote parking in the terminal upon arrival. These signs will direct you to the shuttle stops. At parking areas, stops are marked by a tall post and are generally about every 3-4 rows. Make sure you know which row you are parked on. Also, make sure you board the correct bus. Buses will show the terminal/parking area on the destination sign. Most shuttles run every 5 minutes and are available on demand from 1 AM-3 AM.

 

What if I have car trouble?

Press the help button at shuttle stop posts or at the end of each row for 24 hours for free services like getting jumped, flat tire help, locked keys, or other basic services. We will call a tow truck for you too.
